ALBINO ANIMALS

ALBINO ANIMALS

Why Albino Animals Are So Fascinating

  • Genetic rarity: Albinism is caused by the absence of melanin, the pigment responsible for color in skin, eyes, and hair. This results in white fur, scales, or feathers—and often reddish or pink eyes.
  • Survival challenges: Without natural camouflage or UV protection, albino animals face higher risks of predation, sunburn, and poor vision, making their existence in the wild perilous.
  • Cultural intrigue: When spotted in the wild or captivity, albino animals often spark media interest, conservation efforts, and sometimes local legends—such as Scandinavian tales linking white reindeer to good fortune.
