Ingredients
Cake:
- 1¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 1¼ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup (180ml) milk
Nutella Frosting:
- 1 cup (240g) Nutella
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1½ cups (180g) powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
Extras:
- 4–6 Kinder Bueno bars, chopped roughly
- ½ cup chopped hazelnuts or crushed wafer cookies (optional)
Instructions
1. Bake the Cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour, mixing until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between pans.
- Bake 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool completely on wire racks.
2. Prepare Nutella Frosting
- Beat softened butter until smooth.
- Add Nutella and blend until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, then 2 tbsp cream, beating until smooth and spreadable.
- Add more cream if needed.
3. Assemble the Cake
- Place one cake layer on serving plate.
- Spread a thick layer of Nutella frosting.
- Sprinkle chopped Kinder Bueno pieces and hazelnuts or wafer crumbs on top.
- Place second layer on top.
- Frost the top and sides with remaining frosting.
- Decorate the top with Kinder Bueno bars (whole or chopped).
Tips:
- Chill the cake for 30 minutes before serving to set the frosting.
- Use chilled Nutella frosting to help it hold shape for piping decorations.
- Add a drizzle of melted chocolate on top for extra flair.
