Golden Milk Cake

🧁 Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 1¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp ground cardamom (optional)
- ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar or coconut sugar
- ½ cup (120ml) neutral oil (e.g., sunflower or light olive oil)
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup (180ml) milk (or almond/oat milk for dairy-free)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 orange or 1 tsp lemon zest (optional but brightens the flavor)
🥥 Optional Frosting or Glaze:
🥣 Coconut Cream Glaze (Dairy-Free):
- ½ cup (120ml) coconut cream
- ¾ cup (90g) powdered sugar
- ¼ tsp turmeric (for color)
- Splash of vanilla or lemon juice
🧈 Honey Cream Cheese Frosting (Optional):
- 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1½ cups (180g) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp honey
- ½ tsp turmeric (for color)


👩🍳 Instructions
1. Preheat & Prep
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and line an 8-inch round pan, loaf pan, or 9×9-inch square pan.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together:
- Flour, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, black pepper, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk:
- Eggs, sugar, oil, milk, vanilla, and zest (if using).
4. Combine & Bake
- Add wet ingredients to dry and stir just until combined.
- Pour into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
5. Cool & Frost
- Cool completely before topping with glaze or frosting.
- Dust with a pinch of cinnamon or turmeric for a golden finish.

- Add a handful of chopped nuts or shredded coconut for texture.
- For a vegan version: swap eggs for flax eggs (2 tbsp flaxseed + 5 tbsp water).
- Pairs well with chai or spiced tea.
